To gain money you have to perform robberies. Different robberies gain you different amounts of money.

You can also boost cars and then sell them on to make a quick profit.

There is a job centre for your first few levels in the game that will get you a steady stream of income without any risks however the amount will be very low compared to the criminal actions.

Join a gang and ask on their forums for some help getting started. If your lucky they may have a newcomer programme that helps new players learn the game.
